Problem:

Are your game clips being sped up faster than the gameplay on Medal.TV? This "speed up" bug can be frustrating and is usually caused by insufficient system resources. When playing resource-intensive games, your computer may struggle to encode frames, leading to skipped frames and sped-up clips.

This issue often occurs when Medal tries to encode frames, but your system lacks the necessary resources, causing it to skip several frames. While we are working to improve Medal's performance, this problem can also happen with other recording software if your computer is under heavy load. Here are some solutions to help you fix the sped-up clips issue.

Solution 1: Nvidia / Intel Graphics Cards

Note: I'm on Windows 10; your Task Manager steps might differ.

  1. Open the game and Medal.
  2. Open Task Manager and click 'More details' at the bottom.
  3. If GPU usage is not visible, right-click and select 'GPU'.
  4. Leave Task Manager open and open Medal. Go to settings and scroll down to 'Video Encoding'.
  5. Check your CPU% and GPU%.
  6. If CPU% is high, change the Video Encoding option from 'libx' to another option in the drop-down menu to fix the speed up bug. For Nvidia, select 'NVIDIA'. For Intel, select 'Intel', etc. If GPU% is high, change the Video Encoding option to 'libx'. CPU% and GPU% usage can vary per game.

Solution 2: Process Priority

  1. With Medal and Task Manager still open, click the drop-down on Medal.
  2. Right-click on MedalEncoder and choose 'Go to details'.
  3. Find MedalEncoder.exe (highlighted in blue).
  4. Right-click MedalEncoder.exe, highlight 'Set priority', and choose 'Realtime' or 'High' to address the sped-up clips issue.

Solution 3: Clean Your PC

Although the speedup bug may be related to our software, it's wise to rule out all potential issues. Running a cleanup program can help.

The program I used and recommend is Advanced SystemCare by IObit. Click 'Free Download' and find the Download button on the next page.

There are many other programs available to clean your computer, so choose one that you prefer. Cleaning your PC can help prevent system resource issues causing the sped-up clips.
