How to use your Stream Deck with Medal

Medal now has an official Stream Deck plugin, so you can clip, take screenshots and control long recordings with one button press. No hotkey setup needed!

What you need

• A Windows PC with the free Medal desktop app installed
• The Stream Deck app, version 7.1 or later

Install the Medal plugin

1. Open the Medal plugin page on the Elgato Marketplace: Medal Stream Deck plugin
2. Click Get and follow the steps to add it to your Stream Deck app.
3. Open the Stream Deck app. You'll find the Medal actions in the actions list on the right side.

Available actions

Drag any of these actions onto a key on your Stream Deck:

•  Clip: saves the last moments of your gameplay.
•  Screenshot: captures the game you're playing.
•  Long Recording: starts or stops a long recording. The key shows a pulsing REC light and a running timer, so you always know when you're recording.
•  Bookmark: marks a moment in your long recording.
•  Open Medal: launches Medal or brings it to the front.

Tips

• You can set a different clip length on each Clip key. For example, one key can save the last 30 seconds and another the last 2 minutes.
• If Medal isn't open, pressing any Medal key will start it for you.

Using an older Stream Deck version

If you can't update to Stream Deck 7.1 or later, you can still clip with a regular hotkey button:

1. In the Stream Deck app, open the System actions and drag the Hotkey action onto an empty key.
2. With the key selected, set the hotkey to your Medal clip hotkey (F8 by default). You can check yours in Medal under Settings > Capture Hotkeys.
