Multi-Track Recording

Modified on Wed, 10 Jul at 2:54 PM

We heard your constant pleas for multi-track recording, so we worked ‘round the clock to make your dreams a reality. Before, when your mic and in-game audio were out of balance, there was no way to fix it — until now!

What is Multi-Track Recording?

Multi-track recording allows you to separate your audio sources into different tracks. This means you can individually adjust the volume of your game audio and mic audio to achieve the perfect balance.

How to enable the feature

To enable multi-track recording, follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings:
    • Open the Medal application and navigate to the settings menu.
  2. Audio & Camera:
    • Click on the Audio & Camera tab.
  3. Enable Audio Recording:
    • In the Audio and recording settings, configure your recording preferences:
    • Enable Record all PC audio or select specific audio sources (e.g., Game Audio, Discord Audio).
    • Enable Separate Game and Voice Tracks to split the audio into different tracks.

How to Adjust Your Audio Sources

We added volume sliders for each of your audio sources so you can ensure everything is perfectly balanced. To adjust these, simply left-click on the timeline to reveal the separate audio tracks.

After you have taken a clip, you can open it in the editor and click on the clip timeline. Above the timeline, you will notice separate audio tracks for Game Audio and Mic Audio. You can then adjust the sliders to increase or decrease the volume on your game or mic audio.

You can only adjust the audio track volumes in the Advanced editor. However, you can mute ALL audio from the clip preview, just not individual tracks.

*Known Bugs:
Some applications do not pick the proper default track. This means if you play the clip outside of Medal, you may be missing one or more audio track(s).

List of known problem applications:
- Windows Media Player
- Windows File Explorer
- Windows Movies & TV
- Instagram

How to fix it:
- Record your videos with Multi-Track recording off
- Open the video in another application, like VLC Media Player
- Upload your video to Medal, then share the URL or download the video. Once downloaded, it should be playable in all players
