After Reinstalling
After uninstalling Medal, you will need to restart your PC so all the files are properly deleted from your Computer. Otherwise, Medal will not be fully uninstalled from your PC.
To solve that "Installation has Failed" issue, please Restart your PC and then try installing Medal again.
Windows Compatibility
Medal only supports 64-bit versions of Windows 7/8/10/11. If you are unsure of which version you are using, follow these steps:
These steps only apply to Windows 7/8/10. For Windows 11, you can skip this step.
Step 1: Open your Start Menu or Search Bar and type This PC
Step 2: Right-click on This PC and select Properties
Step 3: Under Device specifications, find System type to check if it’s a 32-bit or 64-bit OS |
If your system shows 64-bit, proceed with the steps below. If it shows 32-bit, Medal cannot be installed on your machine.
To upgrade your system to 64-bit Windows, you must reinstall Windows and select the 64-bit option during installation.
Run MedalSetup.exe as Administrator
Some programs require administrator permissions to install correctly. Follow these steps:
Right-click on MedalSetup.exe and choose Run as administrator. |
This step works best when combined with a full reinstall, also known as a Purge.
Purge (Reinstall)
Failed installations may leave behind corrupted files. This commonly happens if you’ve previously installed Medal and it wasn't uninstalled correctly. Learn how to perform a Purge (reinstall).
Anti-Virus
While Medal is whitelisted by most major anti-virus programs, your anti-virus software may still quarantine some files. For assistance, check our anti-virus guides.
Controlled Folder Access
Windows' Controlled Folder Access can sometimes prevent installations or cause issues. Follow this guide to manage Controlled Folder Access for successful installation.
Turn Down or Disable UAC
Windows User Account Controls (UAC) may prevent Medal from installing. To adjust UAC:
Step 1: Open your Start Menu or Search Bar and type UAC. Select Change User Account Control settings
Step 2: Lower the UAC settings to the lowest level to allow Medal to install, then restore settings afterward |
Old Fixes
If the newer methods didn’t work, consider trying these older solutions:
User Folder
Some Windows installs have multiple users with multiple permissions. When Installing Medal, the setup might try to install
You should be able to find it by going to your Windows File Explorer > C: Drive > Users > your PC username.
Paste the installer there and try running it. This should let Medal install properly
