Sometimes, you may encounter a red banner in the Medal application, indicating that Medal has automatically detected an issue with the app. This alert system helps to prevent failed clippings or corrupted clips by notifying you early.

If you are encountering this issue, your install of Medal may be corrupt, or you may need to update Windows.
Step 1: Repair Medal
- Open the Medal application.
- Navigate to the settings menu.
- Look for the option to repair the application and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Restart your computer after the repair process is complete.
Step 2: Try the Early Access Build
If repairing the application does not resolve the issue, try installing the early access build:
- Go to the Medal website or the settings within the application.
- Find the option to opt into the early access build.
- Follow the instructions to install this version.
Step 3: Check Your GPU or CPU
Before proceeding with further troubleshooting, ensure that your GPU or CPU drivers are up to date:
- Open your Windows Start menu or search and type "Device Manager."
- In the Device Manager, find your GPU and CPU under the respective categories.
- Right-click on each and select "Update driver."
- Follow the prompts to check for updates and install if available.
If none of the above methods help, you can follow the steps below to update Windows and reinstall Medal.
Step 4: Update Windows
Open up your Windows Start menu or Search and type Updates.
Click on Check for updates.
Next, click the Check for updates button.
If Windows finds any updates, it will either automatically begin downloading and installing the updates or it will prompt you to take action.
Restart your PC once updates are installed. Once your PC has restarted, repair Medal.
Step 5: Purge (Reinstall)
If the Windows update did not help or no updates are detected, your Medal installation may have become corrupted and needs a fresh install. You can follow this guide to purge Medal for a clean installation.
