How to Restore Deleted Clips: Uploaded vs. Local

Medal provides two options for restoring deleted clips. Local clips deleted from your computer can be recovered via your computer's recycle bin using the "Use Recycle Bin" feature. For uploaded clips, Medal offers a "Recently Deleted" album where clips can be restored within 30 days of deletion.

Restoring Local Clips

How do I restore a deleted local clip from the recycle bin?

1. Navigate to the recycle bin on your computer.
2. Find the deleted clip and restore it.

The restored clip will return to its original folder location on your computer. It will not automatically reappear in your Medal clip library.

How do I enable the "Use Recycle Bin" feature on Medal?

1. Open Medal and go to Settings.
2. Navigate to Cloud & Posts > After Upload > Use Recycle Bin.
3. Enable this feature. It is turned on by default for all users.

By turning on this setting, any video files you delete will be sent to your computer's recycle bin instead of being permanently deleted. Note that your computer's recycle bin has limited storage, and older files may be permanently removed to make room for new ones.

Does this feature work on clips deleted before enabling it?

No, the "Use Recycle Bin" feature only works for clips deleted after you have enabled it. Clips deleted before enabling this feature will not be sent to the recycle bin.

How can I add a restored local clip back to Medal?

After restoring the clip from the recycle bin, you need to manually upload it back to Medal.

Restoring Uploaded Clips

What about deleted uploaded clips?

For uploaded clips that are deleted, there is a new section called Recently Deleted:

1. Go to Albums > Recently Deleted.
2. Deleted uploaded clips will remain here for 30 days.
3. You can restore any clip in this album, and it will return to its previous state. For example, if it was posted to your profile, it will reappear on your profile.

Note: Local clips deleted from your computer will not show up in the "Recently Deleted" album. This feature is exclusive to uploaded clips.
