Restoring Deleted Videos

When you delete a clip in Medal, it is not removed right away. It moves to Recently Deleted, where you can restore it for 30 days. This works for every clip, including clips that are only saved on your PC.

Undo a deletion

Right after you delete a clip, a Clip deleted message appears with an Undo button. Click Undo to put the clip back in your Library straight away.

Restore a clip from Recently Deleted

1. Open Medal and go to your Library.
2. Select Recently Deleted in the left sidebar. The number next to it shows how many clips are in there.
3. Find the clip you want and click Restore.

The clip goes back to your Library with its original details.

Permanently delete clips

Deleted clips stay on your PC until they are permanently deleted, so they still use disk space while they are in Recently Deleted. To free up that space now:

• To remove one clip, click Delete on that clip in Recently Deleted. This happens right away, without a confirmation.
  
  
• To remove everything, click Delete All at the top of Recently Deleted, then confirm. This permanently deletes every clip in Recently Deleted from your PC and cannot be undone.

FAQ

How long do clips stay in Recently Deleted?

30 days from the date you deleted them. After that, Medal permanently deletes them the next time you open the app, and they cannot be recovered.

Which clips can't be restored?

• Clips deleted before this feature was released
• Clips deleted outside of Medal, for example in File Explorer
• Clips removed automatically by Free Up Space
• Projects. Medal asks you to confirm before deleting a Project, because Projects are deleted permanently.

Where did the "Use Recycle Bin" setting go?

It has been removed. Recently Deleted replaces it and works for all clip sizes, including Full Sessions, which were often too large for the Windows Recycle Bin.

Does Recently Deleted need an internet connection?

Yes. Recently Deleted can't be opened while Medal is offline.

I restored a clip file myself but it's not in Medal. How do I add it back?

Drag and drop the file onto the Medal app window, or use the Import button in your Library. Medal supports .mp4 and .mkv files.
