What is a Badge?
Badges on Medal profiles signify a user's role, status, or contribution within the Medal community. These badges appear next to the user’s username across the platform, helping others easily recognize verified users, staff members, community contributors, and more. Some badges are automatically assigned based on a user’s role (like staff or support), while others are tied to subscriptions, partnerships, or participation in special programs.
It’s important to note that badges can be temporary - if a user’s role changes or a subscription ends, the badge will be removed. Only a limited number of badges are obtainable by users today, while others are legacy badges, no longer available but still shown for historical recognition.

What is an Achievement?
Achievements on Medal recognize specific actions, milestones, or contributions that a user has accomplished while using the platform. These range from attending special events and participating in community challenges, to reporting bugs, translating content, or completing questlines.
Once earned, achievements are permanently displayed on the user’s profile as a way to showcase their involvement, skills, and contributions to the community. Unlike badges, achievements are not removed and act as a lasting record of what a user has done on Medal. Some achievements are exclusive to one-time events or limited programs and can no longer be obtained, while others are still actively available for new users to earn.
