Spirit of the Policy

Our Adult Sexual Activity and Adult Nudity policy is in place to restrict the display of nudity and sexual activity because we, at Medal, understand that this type of content can be sensitive to some individuals, particularly because of our users age and cultural backgrounds. We also default to removing sexual imagery to prevent the sharing of non-consensual or underage content. Restrictions on the display of sexual activity also apply to digitally created content, some video game content and real-world art unless it is posted for educational, humorous or satirical purposes. 

Principles and Rational

Rational

We understand that acceptance and change on how the world views nudity can change over time. We also understand that nudity can be shared for a variety of reasons, including for protest. When nudity is used in protest to gain awareness for a cause, we can may use our discretion to temporarily allow it. However, we take all instances in to account prior to removal of the content to ensure that we are not silencing any issues. We also allow nudity within video games as long as there is no directly visible sexual activity or it is not the main focus of the content, as we understand that MA rated games can often contain nudity. 

Principles

The goal of our Community Standards is to encourage expression and create a safe environment for our users. While we understand that sexual content can be a discussion, learning or expressive point for man, our company principles are to ensure that the content is shared in an appropriate manner that is safe for all of our community. 

Safety

Safety: Safety is an essential factor in community building. At Medal, we are dedicated to removing content that encourages or causes real-world harm, including (but not limited to) physical, emotional, or financial injury as well as privacy violation that could harm a targeted individual(s). 

Voice:

We embrace the different backgrounds and diverse views of our community. We want to provide a platform and opportunity for users to not only share their gaming experience, but build lasting bonds with one another. We err on the side of allowing content, even when some find it objectionable, unless removing that content cant prevent real-world harm to the user. We vow to discuss and consider allowing content that otherwise violates our stands if we deem it to be newsworthy, or important to the public interest based on global and national trends. 

Equity:

We recognize the diverse backgrounds of our community from around the world. It's important for us, at Medal, to keep our policies broad in order to apply them consistently and fairly based on an ever-adapting global culture. Because our community standards must transcend cultural, regional, and linguistic barriers, we recognize the need for a broad but consistent standard. Because of the broadness of our policies, in some cases, and when provided with additional context, we will have to make decisions based on the spirit, as opposed to the letter, of the policy.

Policy

The following are violating content and therefor not allowed on our platform.

1. Imagery of adult nudity if it depicts:

   1. Real nude adults, where nudity is defined as;
      1. Visible genitalia, including genitalia obscured by pubic hair.
      2. Visible anus or fully nude close-ups of buttocks.
      3. Uncovered female nipples except in the context of breastfeeding.
         
         

2. Imagery of Adult Sexual Activity if it depicts

   1. Explicit or Implicit Sexual Intercourse

      1. Explicit sexual intercourse - defined as mouth or genitals entering or in contact with another persons genitals or anus, where at least one person's genitals are nude.
      2. Implied sexual intercourse - defined as mouth or genitals entering or in contract with another persons genitals or anus, unless in a gaming context where the act is not directly visible.
      3. Implied stimulation of genitalia/anus - defined as stimulating the genitalia or anus, OR inserting objects into genitalia/anus, even when the activity is not directly visible, unless in a gaming context.

   2. Other sexual activities as listed below;

      1. Erections
      2. Presence of by-products of sexual activity. (i.e; sperm)
      3. Use of sex toys, or sex toys about to be in use.
      4. Stimulation of uncovered human nipples.
      5. Squeezing of the female breasts in a sexual manner, even with clothing on.
         
         

   3. Fetish content, including;

      1. Acts that are likely to lead to the death of a person on an animal.
      2. Dismemberment.
      3. Cannibalism.
      4. Feces, urine, spit, snot, menstruation or vomit.
         
         

   4. Digital content (including mythical or humanoid animals) that meets our definition of sexual activity unless;

      1. It's content where the sexual activity is not directly visible.
      2. The content was posted in a satirical or humorous context. (MAR)
      3. The imagery is not sufficiently detailed and only body shapes and contours are available.
         
         
   5. Other types of nudity/adults sexual activity that are in violation of our community standards;
      1. Long shots of full nude butts.    
      2. Images of near nudity.
      3. Posting digital images of adult nudity.
   6. Prohibited Sexual Games and Modified Games
      1. Games that primarily focus or feature nudity, sexual activity, or fetish content is prohibited. Game modifications that add elements of sex content or nudity to permitted games are prohibited.

Allow

This type of content does not violate out community standards and is therefore allowed on our platform.

1. Posting photographs of real world art that depicts nudity or sexual activity.
2. Posting fetish content unless it involved any of the aforementioned violating fetishes.
3. Imagery involving fetus or bulge that is not cropped to be the main focus of the image.
4. Imagery of female nipples if the woman is involved in an act of protest.
5. Engagement in moderate displays of sexuality, such as;
   1. Open mouth kissing.
   2. Clothed, simulated sexual activity without any other violating factors.
