Permission issues with Catalina


We have discovered some permission issues on the Catalina update for Mac OS when using Medal. 

To fix these issues, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy and check the box next to Medal For Mac on the following:

  • Input Monitoring
  • Screen Recording



For Input Monitoring, you may need to Click the lock to make changes:



You will need to choose the Quit Now option after changing the settings for it to take effect.


Clip Failed to Save (MediaBuffer error 0.)


If you are experiencing this error when trying to record on Mac, Make sure that the app has all the permissions necessary to try to record. 



To solve this you must give the application full access similar to admin access under your security and privacy settings on Mac


No audio on Clips


Due to some security limitations from the OS, it's impossible to record system audio on Macs (the sound coming from your computer during a desktop recording).

With that said, we still are working on a way to have our recorder to be able to capture audio with its proper permissions.

Can't upload Clips:


Medal on Mac doesn't have any sharing functionality as of yet. This means that this version of Medal does not let you sync with the Medal Cloud in any way.


The upload button on the website is just to open the app on Windows, but if you have an iPhone you can AirDrop your clips from your Mac to your phone and use the mobile app to upload them by following our guide "How to Upload Clips on iOS".

Website tells me to Download the app again


The reason it's still telling you to download the app is because the Medal for Mac currently does not have any sharing functionality, so our website doesn't detect the app.

This means that this version of Medal does not let you sync with the Medal Cloud in any way.
