Windows Game DVR may be on by default and can cause some issues with Medal. 


Such problems can be:

  • Clips may be a black screen
  • Some games may crash when trying to record
  • FPS drops in game / in the clips


Here are instructions to help you turn Window Game DVR off.


Windows 10 

Version 1703 / Creator's Update or newer:

  1. Open up Windows Settings
    • Type Settings into your Windows search box
      • If that's not working right-click on your Windows Icon
    • Select Settings
  2. Click on Gaming


  3. Under Game bar, toggle off:
    • Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Game bar


  4. On the left sidebar click on Game DVR
  5. Under Background recording, toggle off the following:
    • Record in the background while I'm playing a game
    • Record audio when I record a game


Windows 10 (older)

Version 1607 / OS Build 14393 or older:

  1. Search for the Xbox application in your Start Menu

  3. Click on the tab for Game DVR, and toggle it off.
